We offer a certificate programme of advanced studies (CAS) to our teaching faculty as well as external applicants with an interest in the teaching and learning of higher education. The CAS is offered exclusively in German, however. If you speak English and have any questions on a specific topic, please do not hesitate to contact us for an individual consultation.
We are proud to offer a programme adapted to individual needs of our participants by integrating personalized coaching and mentoring as well as a guided teaching and a learning project. In addition, the programme networks the lecturers at the HSG with each other and works towards the further development of the university's learning culture. The aim is to sustainably promote the quality of teaching at the HSG.
Programme content
The CAS is built up of different modules spread out over 3 semesters, covering various dimensions and topics of teaching and learning in higher education (educational cultures, planning, implementation, and evaluation of student learning). The certificate programme consists of:
- Seven half or full day courses ‘Fit for higher education’;
- Four half or full day elective courses;
- Mentoring sessions (with a mentor chosen by yourself);
- An interdisciplinary project with reflection sessions;
- Two hospitations from HDZ experts;
- Two peer-hospitations;
- A portfolio.
The heart of the training programme is your individually accompanied teaching project, for which you will be supported by an experienced mentor of your choice. On the one hand, the teaching project takes up the topics from the programme, but on the other hand it also contributes to a study programme.
In total, the CAS programme amounts to 300 learning hours (10 ECTS).

With a perspective of the future, also assistants and PhD students can take part. Next to that, external candidate interested in teaching and learning in higher education are welcome.
