Challenges of teaching in Higher Education

Lecturers face particular challenges today:

  • Students expect a high-quality university education, qualified teaching staff and motivating teaching content.
  • The increasing demands at the various educational levels require the continuous further development of teaching methods.
  • Dealing with heterogeneous student groups and designing diversity-orientated learning environments requires diversity competence.
  • New findings from teaching research require the increased use of new media and the updating of teaching skills.
  • Teachers at universities have a variety of roles, which presents a challenge when it comes to organising and performing these different functions.
